Why your credit card details are safe
|
You can order from this site using your credit card with the utmost reassurance. The page on which you enter your credit card details sits on a "secure server" and your card details are protected at all times, using state of the art encryption technology. But we go even further than that...
Misconceptions about "secure ordering"
It is a common belief that if the yellow padlock symbol is showing at the
bottom of your browser, it is completely safe to send your credit card details
over the internet, just because you are connected to a secure server.
Unfortunately this is not necessarily so. Let us explain why. SSL (the encryption
technology used by secure servers) only secures the connection between your
browser and the web server receiving your order. It does nothing to protect
the information after it reaches the secure server! Unfortunately, most
companies cannot afford the luxury of having their own web servers, so they
use what is known as "third-party hosting." That is where the insecurity
comes into play. Most third-party web hosting companies provide a system
called FormMail which takes the contents of the customer's completed
order form (containing credit card details) and sends it back to the company
via ordinary email! There is no protection for this e-mail;
no SSL or other encryption protection at all. The company you are buying
from is putting on a facade of security (complete with yellow padlock symbol
or solid key icon) to win your confidence. But as soon as you have transmitted
your data, that's where the caring facade ends! After that point, they have
no qualms whatsoever about having your data sent to them from the secure
server by ordinary e-mail! The potential danger (for you) when
this happens, is that your data then sits on a non-secure server, prone to
any hacker or criminally-minded ISP employee. Even worse, many companies
even have the order form itself hosted on a non-secure server, where your
credit card details could also accessed by any amateur hacker!
So how does AAnotes.com eliminate these dangers?
At AAnotes.com, we take internet security to extreme levels - just so that
our customers can be 100% confident when they order from us. Firstly, when you send
us your credit card tedail, the information is encrypted between your computer
and the secure server which holds your encrypted information until the transaction
is processed. Then you card details are deleted. We do not hold customers' card
details on file like many companies do.
We believe this constitutes one of the most secure payment systems on the internet today. It is millions of times safer than placing a credit card order over the telephone, or making a purchase in any high-street store, where the sales assistant can get access to your credit card number and its expiry date.
We put the highest priority on credit card data security, just so that you can have complete peace of mind when you order from www.AAnotes.com. It costs us extra to use this ultra-secure system, but we believe it's money well spent if it means peace of mind for our customers.
We believe in keeping up with the times, too. Our internet security is under constant reappraisal by an information security consultant used also by the National Security Agency for 12 years.
For further information about our approach to internet security, and the care we take with our customers' data, read or Privacy Policy .
Order from us today, and sleep peacefully!
