Banknotes: Determining the
Country of Origin
It is easy to determine the nationality of a banknote
when its country of origin is printed on it in, either in English, or
in a language using western characters, where the spelling is similar
to the English spelling; for example, Türkiye (Turkey) or Moçambique
(Mozambique). There are however a number of countries whose banknotes
aren’t so easy to identify. For that reason we have produced this page
with illustrations of relevant parts of some relatively obscure notes
as an identification aid.
